Tap and Barrel

The Tap and Barrel public house occupies a prominent corner position of the ‘Grey to Green 2 corridor’ in Sheffield City Centre. The proposed alterations intend to revitalise this community facility that has been closed since 2016. Internally, the public spaces are upgraded and extended. Externally, the formality of the original building remains largely untouched, but to the rear a new staircase and external roof terrace replace a former service yard and dilapidated flat roof, to enliven the Castlegate elevation, bringing this building back into the heart of the regeneration of the Castlegate area as a positive addition alongside the Grey to Green 2 project. .
