Bolsover Town Hall Square
Old Bolsover Town Council approached Thread Architects to redesign the Town Hall Square to make it an attractive space that would enhance the conservation area, that was also safe and accessible. The fabric of the square needed to be in a better state of repair and underused despite its central location in the town. The square is a key space in Bolsover with regular events such as the Artisan Fairs, Food Festivals, and the Winter Festival held in it every year, and so it had great potential. The space had to cater for these important events but also create a welcoming place for people to sit and chat day to day.
Working collaboratively with Landscape Architect Fiona Heron, we redesigned the steps and paving across the space to provide an attractive and robust finish that also tied in the reused and repurposed street furniture from the old square that were given a new lease of life. The square is now an important social space in the town that has become far more active since the works were complete.
“Thread Architects supported us through the whole process, including procurement. The project was completed on time and on budget, and we are very pleased with the results”. Old Bolsover Town Council
