A complete restoration of a home in a conservation area with a contemporary open plan extension into the garden.
This project brought a derelict 4 storey town house back to life, working alongside the clients while they carefully restored the existing home, we created a bold extension into the garden that creates modern open plan living space alongside the traditional home.
The extension projects out the rear of the property and tapers to direct views across the longest garden axis. To further maximise the views, the reveals to the wide bifold door opening also taper to the sides and front, revealing the view and allowing light to flood the internal space.
The exterior of the extension is clad in standing seam metal panels to the walls, roof and reveals giving a singular monolithic appearance to the extension. The property is in a conservation area and a historic property. By working closely with the local Planning Authority and Conservation Officers we were able to celebrate the beauty of the original home alongside a high quality, contemporary addition that provides space internally for modern family life.
