Its Sheffield Design Week this week which this year is collaborating with the Love Architecture Festival run by the RIBA Yorkshire. Andy was at the Lego store in Meadowhall yesterday at a ‘Beat the Architect’ competition. Unfortunately he lost the competition in the closing minutes to a well practiced mum! If you’d like a go, the next round of challenges is taking place at the Mansfield Museum next Saturday (28th June) as part of the RIBA East Midlands Love Architecture festivities. We’re also going to the ‘Brutal and Beautiful’ tour of Park Hill and the David Mellor house next Saturday, which should be really interesting.
There are also lots of free exhibitions and events going on throughout the week in the city, including the Dear Sheffield project which is exhibiting its collection of images from around the city in the Moor Market, which we think may include a photo by us of a favourite pub as a postcard, so will be trying to find that as well! And our friends at Studio Poplo are also exhibiting their work in Doing Architecture in the city centre.
We’ve decided to join in and set up our pop-up office for a day on Friday 27th June. This time we’re in the heart of Sheffield City Centre, in the event space downstairs at the Birds Yard Sheffield shop on Chapel Walk. We’ll be there from 10.30 til 5.30 showing some of our work and what an architect does, and generally encouraging the public to get self-building!
If you’d like to come down and talk about anything on your project while we are there let us know, or just drop by and say hello over a cup of tea!
