  • We have been working closely with the building group at Hillsborough Tabernacle Church, Sheffield to reimagine the current church building. The brief is to open the church to the wider community and create a new welcoming entrance space and café than can cater for the congregation and local neighbourhood. We have been engaging with the building group through a series of workshops and discussions to develop the design.   • Reimagining a library interior as a flexible use community space in Coventry Thread were asked by a community group to explore the space available in an existing library and come up with creative means of maximising its use for a range of flexible purposes, whilst keeping the books at the heart of the building. The space available was explored both practically to ensure people and books could flow easily through the spaces and creatively to see how the formality of the spaces could be reimagined. This looked at the insertion of a family of flexible pieces of furniture that celebrated the architecture of the existing building, displayed the book stock and allowed easy partitioning to create new spaces within the library for groups to gather or individuals to study. #architecture #communitylibrary #communitycentre #communityhub #design #feasibility #solihull #birmingham #coventry #westmidlands #architects #community

  • Creating a new community hub in the heart of Sheffield Thread Architects have been asked by the Broomhill Community Library to look forward to how the existing library building could be develop and reimagined to become a vibrant centre for the Broomhill community. Working closely with the volunteer community group we have developed feasibility designs that have been used in consultations to engage the wider public and users of the library.
