Thread Architects were asked to work on the refurbishment and conversion of a former Methodist Chapel in Wensley, Derbyshire. The Chapel had stood empty for some years and had serious structural problems. Working closely with the structural engineer the existing walls and roof were stabilised with a discreet steel frame.
The fabric was then sensitively waterproofed and insulated before the internal space was crafted into a new three bedroom home that celebrated the light and volume of the Chapel space. The building has now become a special landmark for the village again as well as a stunning home.
