Making use of a driveway that runs along the side of a 1930’s semi-detached dwelling, this two storey side extension adds a garden facing dining room and street facing playroom/spare bedroom at ground floor and a new master bedroom above.
The form is designed to reflect the layering of the existing dwelling with a red brick plinth extending across the extension stepping up from the pavement to provide improved access to the front door. This plinth extends vertically in a lightweight timber addition. The new extension is finished in eyecatching oiled red cedar. The vertical slats to the front elevation give shading and privacy to the playroom within.
