Folds Lane, Sheffield

This bold extension to a semi-detached home takes a small budget to add a large master bedroom suite above an existing garage.

The linear tapering room is divided into an en-suite, dressing area and bedroom, defined by a split level floor that adds volume to the sleeping space. To the front of the house the extension projects out to provide a sheltered workspace in front of the garage and a new porch. The extension is constructed from a pre-fabricated timber frame built off the existing garage, and be faced in a ribbon of concrete fibreboard cladding that wraps up over the new porch and around the new extension, terminating at the rear of the existing garage where a new dining area can be added at a later date.
