The brief for this project was to help create extra living space for a family of four that better connected the house to its beautiful gardens and the view beyond on a budget. Working closely with the client using drawings and models we worked on schemes that stepped down from the existing kitchen down to the lawn creating new internal and external spaces on the route.
The final built scheme, completed in 2016, was a simple timber frame clad in black stained timbers with glazed opening framed in the natural timber and with a future green roof above. The kitchen opens out to the new and light dining area that spills smoothly out to a new garden “room” of a raised terrace. The lighting of each space and the peeped views of the garden beyond as you move through the design link the spaces together and give each its special identity.
