Our design for this proposed side extension will create a new entrance and office space for MEPs International, a Sheffield based company with an international reputation for comprehensive analysis of the steel market.

The extension will form a new high-quality addition to a Grade II listed building and diverse street scene in a prominent location on Glossop Road, in the heart of the city.

The design creates a strong bookend and identity to the existing street that had been previously cut short when the ring road was built in the last century. The proposal uses a simple palette of materials: brick to tie in with the context and finely detailed bright metal linings to the openings to reflect the building’s use and contrast with the weight of the masonry. The form lightly touches the gable end of the existing building and wraps around to form a strong overhang and entrance to the rear. Internally, in the existing office, a new full height stair is created to open a light filled void in the centre of the plan.

This project has now been granted full planning permission by Sheffield City Council and we have started preparing the construction drawings for the design.
