2016 Review + Happy New Year!

2016 has been a very busy and exciting year for Thread Architects. Thank you to everyone from clients to contractors, schools to universities and partners and specialists who have made the last 12 months special.

The picture grid above picks up on just some of the highlights of 2016….

Our Pop-up in the Sheffield Winter Gardens was chilly but successful partnering with other local architects to encourage passers-by to think about the city and their homes in different ways. Our Self-Build evening event was great fun and well attended.

We have completed projects such as Folds Lane in Sheffield and a reimagination of an existing cottage in the Peak District.

We have gained new planning approvals including this major refurbishment and extension of an old Derbyshire house hopefully starting on site in 2017!

Projects that we had started earlier have also been on site over the last year including this extension to a 1930s house in Sheffield with textured brick panels and a new metal clad modern extension to a Victorian home in a conservation area.

We have continued teaching in local universities including Nottingham and Leicester De Montfort and will be starting roles at the Sheffield universities next year.

With new faces we have sadly said goodbye to Raheela who returned to university to continue her studies. However, we have been really happy to welcome Anya as a new Director!

Thread has run workshops with school children from Mansfield to Marlborough exploring ideas of design, architecture and working together.

There have also been awards with Anya winning both the Residential and Conservation awards at this year’s Sheffield Design Awards for her completed home on Slinn Street, Sheffield.

And finally and most importantly there have been our new projects over the last 12 months ranging in brief, size and scale but all brilliant to work on with our clients. There are also several new and very exciting projects starting in January so watch this space!

Thank you again to everyone we have met and worked with in 2016 and we wish you all a very Happy New Year!
